Why Can We Deliver When Others Can't?
My name is Jeff Wellman, and I haul trash for a living as the owner/operator of Wellman Waste in Georgetown, KY.
Before I became a garbage man I sold parts for garbage trucks for nearly 30 years, working for dealers, service companies, and OEMs like McNeilus and E-Z Pack. And then I started my own parts company that you might remember: Refuse Parts Depot.
So I know parts. I also know what it’s like to run a daily garbage route. And I’ve come to realize how difficult it can be for smaller haulers to get timely delivery for the parts they need to keep their trucks operating. If I have a truck down because of a blown cylinder or a faulty prox switch, I can’t wait two weeks or longer for the parts that will get my truck back on the route.
Most parts companies cater to the big boys first, and leave us little guys hanging. Dealers don’t want to take the time to track down a part they don’t stock. And finding the just right part is half the battle; getting it delivered quickly is the other half.
We understand the problems haulers have since we’re in the same boat. But we also understand how the parts business works — where to find the parts that others might not stock, what other parts might work instead of the OEM spec, and how to expedite the order.
